RE:   Coronavirus (COVID-19) Policy

We have decided that it was important to convey some basic guidelines surrounding the COVID-19 Coronavirus in light of the on-going developments both locally and nationally.

Independent of our own guidelines of Schuler-Haas and because the circumstances surrounding this virus are ever changing, please refer to your local communities guidelines, New York State guidelines and the guidelines suggested on the www.Coronavirus.com website.  Schuler-Haas will also post this document on our website at www.schuler-haas.com.

Jobsite Related Guidelines:

If you are concerned at all about being at risk and feel a need to self-quarantine, please contact your supervisor.  The decision to self-quarantine is on the individual not on Schuler-Haas.

If an individual displays symptoms consistent with Coronavirus they may be asked to leave a jobsite and consult their physician.

If you observe a situation that you believe is a safety risk please bring it to your supervisors who will then provide guidance regarding how to proceed.

If the customer of a project has not shutdown the jobsite our intent will be to keep working as long as we feel the conditions are safe.

NECA and the IBEW are implementing guidelines to allow for employees who are laid off due to project closures to return to work on that project once it resumes without going through the normal referral process.  Please contact your local union representative for further direction surrounding the CBA guidelines.

If your jobsite is shutdown or you need to self-quarantine and want to file for unemployment, please contact your respective supervisor for direction.

Schuler-Haas Offices

If an individual displays symptoms consistent with Coronavirus they may be asked to leave the office and seek professional advice.

If you are concerned at all about being at risk and feel a need to self-quarantine, please contact your supervisor.  The decision to self-quarantine is on the individual not on Schuler-Haas.

If you observe a situation that you believe is a safety risk please bring it to your supervisors who will then provide guidance regarding how to proceed.

If you are able to perform your job remotely please consider doing so to limit exposure to your fellow employees.  Please discuss this with your supervisor beforehand.

If you need technical assistance and/or hardware upgrades to work remotely, please contact your supervisor and the IT (IV4) personnel for approval.

In general, please follow all health department guidelines around hand washing (20 seconds with soap), social distancing, coughing or sneezing into your arm, etc.

Coronavirus is something that still has many unknowns and we are all learning more with each passing day.  We will work to keep up with the latest guidelines as they present themselves and in the meantime, please keep yourselves current with the latest updates from your local and national news guidelines and the information provided on the Coronavirus.com website.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns and we hope everyone remains healthy and safe.

Thank you,

Ed and Dan

Safety

Schuler-Haas Electric Corp. is extremely proud of its company safety record. The commitment from owners Dan Streicher and Ed Schuler illustrate the top down approach that each worker will go home safely every night. The safety culture starts with the owners and is a daily reminder to each employee to work safely.

The company EMR is currently a .71 while averaging over 480,000 man hours each year.
Schuler-Haas Electric has been part of the Complete Structures Captive Group since 2013 and received the group President’s Award in 2017 for the lowest incident rates among the thirty-one members. The company truly has “skin in the game” and supports the safety training and education necessary today to keep each employee working in a safe environment.
